Rick Bond was born in Victoria, B.C. and grew up in the Gulf Islands of Vancouver. He trained through the Emily Carr Outreach program, Okanagan University College, Pearson College in Victoria and various other professional artists' workshops. His career in painting began in 1980.
Early in his career, Rick worked with oil, then watercolor but now works primarily with acrylic on canvas. His genres, including urban and rural landscape and musicians, are created with loose vibrant style and could be considered contemporary impressionism. He's been called a visionary and practical artist who tends to express himself in simple terms.
Rick has a strong affiliation with the community being Past President of the Okanagan Artists League and the Vernon Community Arts Council. In 1999 he achieved AFCA Signature Status with the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Rick has had several solo and group exhibitions since 1985, starting with the Okanagan Artists League and members of the FCA Gallery in Vancouver. Today his work is represented in several Canadian galleries and has been purchased for private and corporate collections across Canada, the United States and Europe.
Rick currently lives and paints full time in Vernon B.C.
